UW EarthLab Announces 2023-24 Innovation Grants Projects for Climate & Social Justice

April 14, 2023 – Today EarthLab announced that six transdisciplinary teams have been selected for the 2023-24 Innovation Grants program. Each team will receive $75,000 to research and develop new and actionable knowledge on projects at the intersection of climate change and social justice. To date, EarthLab has awarded over one million dollars in Innovation Grant funding to 19 transdisciplinary teams across five years.

The Office of Global Affairs and Population Health Initiative are partnering to offer a one credit General Studies course that will introduce students to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals, research at the University of Washington aligned with those goals, and the role the goals play in improving population health, societies, and the environment, both locally and globally.

Clean SHiFT Team Wins 2022 EPA Safer Choice Partner of the Year

The products we use to clean our spaces impact not only those who use them, but also the environments into which they are discharged. A multi-disciplinary team has been working to help with the transition to safer chemicals for cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing food trucks in Washington.  
In recognition of their efforts, the Clean Safety & Health in Food Trucks (Clean SHiFT) team received a 2022 Safer Choice Partner of the Year award from the U.S.
